Elizabeth Kasmer - Unfortunately Elizabeth Kasmer has withdrawn from the festival but Samantha Wheeler will be conducting Elizabeth's sessions.
Samantha Wheeler fell in love with animals after receiving her first tortoise, at the age of 6. She went on to study Agriculture, work with dairy farmers, and teach science in high school. Not surprisingly, her first book, Smooch & Rose was inspired by koalas, and was shortlisted for the Queensland Literary Awards in 2014. Her second book, Spud & Charli, tackled bats and Hendra virus, and her third, Mister Cassowary has been shortlisted for the 2016 Readings Children’s Book Award. By writing stories inspired by nature and the environment, Samantha hopes to prove that ‘anyone can make a difference’.
Elizabeth Kasmer lives on the Sunshine Coast. She has been an exchange student, a donor attendant, security shredder and a primary school teacher. Becoming Aurora is her first novel and the first young adult work to win the Queensland Literary Awards Best Emerging Author prize since it was established in 1999.
