Festival Q & A

General information: 

Beyond the Book, formerly Voices on the Coast is an annual youth literature festival, located on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The festival is targeted for children aged 10 to 18 (although adults are welcome too!), offering them the opportunity to step beyond the pages of their favorite books and meet beloved authors and illustrators in person. Made up of two student days held at UniSC Sunshine Coast, there are alsoplus additional community events aimed at adults, emerging writers and readers held across the Sunshine Coast. In 2024 the festival will be held, in person, at UniSC Sunshine Coast from Thursday 22 February to Friday 23 February 2024, followed by a virtual festival from Monday 26 February to Wednesday 28 February 2024.


You do not have to be part of a school group to participate in Beyond the Book. Everybody is welcome!

Purchasing Tickets

NOTE: Tickets are available HERE.

Speaker Sessions are $9.00 per Talk per person.

Workshop Sessions are $15.00 per Workshop per person.

The festival is open to everyone, both as a member of a school group, or as in individual. The festival is open to young people and adults.

Please purchase tickets for all accompanying adults with school groups.

You are able to request an invoice for payment once you have selected the tickets you require.

1.    Read through the program and select sessions for yourself or your students. Don’t forget to check the age group guides and to include accompanying adults in the numbers required.

2.    Once ticket sales open, either purchase the tickets online at www.beyondthebook.com.au directly using a credit card for payment

One week prior to the festival all ticket holders will be emailed their Ticket Confirmation to their designated email. Please show this confirmation email at each venue for entry.

Workshops are limited to six tickets per school per workshop.

There are no refunds or exchanges once tickets are processed.

School Reservations

If you wish to reserve tickets once ticket sales open, select the required tickets online at www.beyondthebook.com.au and request an invoice for payment.

All payments must be finalised prior to the Festival, please contact the Voices office if there is a problem with payment timelines.

Venues and rooms will be allocated closer to the date of the festival.

The virtual festival will be held via ticket sales across Aircast, with the ability to be viewed within schools.

Food and Drink

Bottled water is not available for purchase at UniSC Sunshine Coast. However, there are water stations on-site to refill water bottles. It is highly recommended attendees bring their own water bottles. Food and other beverages can be purchased at cafés on-site.

Book Sales

QBD Bookshop will be selling books during the Festival and presenters will be available for book signings.

Book Sales and book signing location will be announced closer to the festival.

Parking

UniSC Sunshine Coast is a paid regulated parking area Monday to Friday 8.00am to 6.00pm.

$5.00 for more than 4 hours $3.00 for 4 hours or less

Parking must be paid as you leave your car and enter the campus. Parking can be paid online at https://www.usc.edu.au/about/locations/transport-and-parking/parking prior to the Festival.

There is no bus parking on campus. School buses can use Platform 3 at UniSC Transit Centre to drop off and pick up passengers. There is an option to park buses in car park 15 (Claymore Road free car park)

Photography Permissions

A photographer will be in attendance at the Festival. The purchase of a ticket implies permission to use the photos for archival and marketing purposes.

COVID-19

Beyond the Book will be complying to all COVID-19 restrictions and directives from Queensland Government, as at the time of the festival.
